What an exciting month this has been!!!
I have been working on this novel for a while. As many of you know, I am a police officer and I see Domestic Violence in my job on a daily basis.? No two situations are ever the same and we must try to do our best to help the victims move away from the problems and attempt to help them get through the events. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. This book was written because of that.
About a year ago, I was in the car driving. I was thinking about a situation that I had dealt with and the storyline for WILoD came to me.? Within 45 minutes, I knew how it would start and how it would end. The title was born at that very time. It fit the book to perfection and I never even thought about changing it. During the time I was writing this, there were days when I could not face some of the emotions needed to write the scenes. There were other times when I would write a sentence or two and have to get up and walk away for a while.
My intent for this book was to reach out to people who have been victims and let them know – they are not alone and they can survive. I also wanted to explain to people who have never been in this kind of a relationship why it was so hard to walk away. So many times I hear people say, “Why doesn’t she just leave him?” Well, it’s just not that easy… For those who have survived…I’m proud of you.
