The Music behind Riley

I’m a huge music person–like I always have music playing. I don’t just stick to one genre either. Some days the classic rock is kicking my speakers, or I break out the vinyl and listen to a few of my dad’s albums, and some days I every have classic piano on. It all depends on what I’m doing and just how high my blood pressure is that day.

Recently I finished writing and editing Riley, Loving a Young Series, Book 4, and I came across a song that was so fitting for Ethan. Here’s the book blurb:

Riley is always the life of the party, and it’s Ethan that is there to pick her up and keep her together. He knows her almost as well as she knows herself, and he knows she will never love him as he does her.

Now Ethan wants more out of life and love, but Riley denies her feelings and insists they are just friends with benefits. When a training opportunity comes up that will get Ethan out of town for months, he jumps on it. It’s the only way to get over Riley and move on.

With Ethan gone and a new guy in her life, Riley finds herself dealing with several emotional issues without the help of her best friend. A family emergency has Ethan feeling lost without Riley there to lean on, but he refuses to go to her and seeks solace with another. Will Riley make the right choices, and finally, admit how she feels, or will she find herself alone and falling further down the rabbit hole.

When I started writing this book, I came across the song, “I’m Never Getting Over You” by Gone West. It hit me square in the chest as I could see Ethan saying these things, and Riley rebuking him. Check out the music video.

LOVING A YOUNG SERIES

Riley Releases on February 16th and will be exclusive to Amazon for a little while.

Huntley Releases

The third book in the Loving a Young Series is now available!

Daniella Knight works hard to create suspenseful and romantic tales, but after a violent interaction with a fan, she wants to hide from the world. When her house catches on fire, her and her protection dog, Tigger, are forced to rely on the help of strangers.

Huntley Young loves being in the thick of the action. Well, as long as that action has something to do with his job as a firefighter. When Huntley stops the homeowner from going back into the house, he has no clue, that he just placed himself firmly in the hero department.

As they two get to know each other, Daniella’s creative mind is always building on what is around her, and before she knows it, reality and fiction are hard to tell apart.

When danger strikes again, will Daniella be able to see what is right in front of her, or while her past trauma keep her safely inside her romantic fictional world?

Check out some early reviews:

Once again Stacy Eaton mirrors real life with fiction and shows us how something traumatic in our lives can cause us to have PTSD and loose our grip on reality. Kudos to Ms. Eaton for bringing us these stories that touch on real situations.

This story is a perfect blend of family loyalty, humorous teasing between siblings, friendships, first responders, hardships, coming to terms with trauma, heartwarming moments, suspense and romance! I can always count on Stacy Eaton to write a great story with all “the feels”.

Amazon Reviewer (B)

This story had so many interesting things going on. The insight into an author’s mind, the line between fiction and reality, a love story, a huge amazing family dynamic, suspense and intrigue. This whole story just blew me away.

Writing Timelines

I’ll be honest, I hate timelines, they are a pain in the butt. Sadly, they are very necessary in books. How many times have you read a story and went, “What? Wait a second. That’s not right!” Sometimes it’s minor, and sometimes it is MAJOR! Enough to annoy a reader and turn them off from your books.

I work hard to make sure my timelines flow in my books. I track them through a spreadsheet in Excel, and one of my proofreaders loves to nit-pick them so intently that I believe she has an addiction. It’s a good addiction!!! One that I seriously appreciate!

Last week I wrote about 27,000 words on a new book. Riley is the fourth book in the Loving a Young Series, and it is coming out in February. I was rocking right along until I paused and went, Wait! I need to adjust the timing on this! Then I made changes. I ended up having to make more changes and add in two chapters, and then I needed more changes.

Then I realized I had screwed the timeline up so much that I didn’t even know what everyone was doing or when!! So I had to stop and find another way! I ended up using my regular calendar connected to my email.

Now I have it all down correctly! But man did that take a while to get it corrected! Now, when you click on those lines, there are notes about the chapters and details of what needs to happen when! Perfect!

I do have to add that while Riley is an intense timeline – it is now where as crazy and intense as The Twisted Love Series! This picture is the timeline that used to be on my wall – That is 11 feet of timeline!! Take about details to track on that series!
